Zongzi

Today's the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, and according to the lunar calendar, today's the day of the Dragon Boat Festival. Even though there's really no dragon boats to see around where I live, my family still celebrates by making zongzi on this day every year.
Zongzi (a.k.a. rice dumplings) have a ton of varieties, from salty to sweet, main course to dessert, the only things they have in common is probably that they're all made of glutinous rice and bamboo leaves. For my family we generally fill it with rice and pork and ham....and that's it. (My brother doesn't like ANY of the other common ingredients in zongzi so my mom doesn't add anything else T.T)

Ingredients:
Bamboo Leaves
Sliced pork bellies (I think...)
Sliced Ham
Glutinous Rice
Soy Sauce
Garlic
Various Seasonings (I really don't know what else mom throws in the rice...)

Other:
2 Pots (one to mix the rice and one to cook the zongzi)
cotton strings
scissors

Cat-Ear Fleece Hat

Trial #1:
The first one I made, the hat was too long because I didn't account for the extra length of the hem when I made the pattern, the hat was too high.. The v-pattern darts down the front and back are too shallow, it leaves an awkward notch when worn.

Trial #2:
The second try, I enlarged the width of the hem by an inch, along with the perimeter of the hat. I deepen the v-pattern dart by an inch and decreased the height of the hat by an inch. The second hat turned out pretty well, the finished hat is 24in wide and about 8in high. The hat fits my brother's head perfectly and he loves it, and i guess that's really all that matters :).
Materials:
1/2 yard of Black Anti-Pill Fleece
1//2 yard of White Anti-Pill Fleece
(I made 2 hats and it looks like i still have just enough to make 2 more)
Black&White Thread

Tools:
Pencil
Construction Paper
Scotch Tape
Ruler
Styling Design Ruler
Normal Scissors
Fabric Chalk/Pencil
Fabric Scissors
Sewing Machine

Summer Goal

I'm going to try to be productive and do more than just lay around the house all day watching tv, or just go hang out. Crafting is something I loved to do since I was a child and I want to document every craft I make from the past and in the future. Hopefully I can continue this project even after summer so I can look back at all the things I made one day.
